What's in it for you?
Your apprenticeship with us will be invaluable for your future. Work with, and learn from, experienced people and get the training you need to build a career in your chosen specialist field. Receive nationally recognised qualifications and salary, while building an excellent foundation of technical and practical workplace skills.
And if you think we can do things differently, share ideas; we reward an innovative spirit. You can take your talent as far as you want it to go!
We want to equip people in our communities with the skills, knowledge and insight needed to thrive in our industry.
One example is our partnership with Derby College; we’ve teamed up to launch the college’s first Employer Academy solely dedicated to travel and tourism. Supporting Travel and Tourism course learners, we provide expert lectures, special projects and work experience placements.
Our apprentices usually study customer service or business administration. But they've also trialled the content for a new apprenticeship for business travel consultants. The “trailblazer” apprenticeship has been developed by industry employers including us, and it’s the first one specifically designed for business travel and accommodation.
We’re also part of an advisory group responsible for developing an apprenticeship standard in event management. The standard has been written and refined by Capita Travel and Events, and other event industry employers, to provide the best scheme possible for people seeking an alternative route into events.
We're passionate about our work with our local communities. Building on the skills required to deliver the best service to our customers, it also helps learners to bridge the gap between education and the workplace.
We’re so committed to ongoing learning that we regularly find ourselves organising ‘graduation’ ceremonies to celebrate the achievements employees who have successfully complete apprenticeship qualifications.

Zoe Keetley-Bowditch joined us as a hotel consultant and is one of the successful apprentices who graduated from her course in 2015:“I was offered the chance to gain an additional qualification as soon as I joined Capita Travel and Events. I came from a retail management background and it was clear that my tutors and manager had high expectations of me; they signed me up for the highest level achievable. That gave me a massive confidence boost from the start. I’ve already been adapting my new skills for my role and it’s resulting in savings for our customers and further opportunities for me within Capita Travel and Events."
Since telling us what her apprenticeship meant to her, Zoe successfully applied for a promotion to the role of assistant team manager.
“The input from Capita will now really help to broaden the young people’s horizons and open their eyes to the wider career opportunities available in this growing industry."
