Seatfrog: A giant leap for enhanced traveller experience

Rail travellers can now bid for First Class upgrades thanks to Capita Travel and Events’ innovative partnership with Seatfrog.

In an industry first, rail travellers who are customers of Capita Travel and Events can now bid for First Class upgrades with Seatfrog on selected London North Eastern Railway (LNER) routes. Travellers simply need to download the Seatfrog app to get bidding.

Capita Travel and Events, a UK specialist in travel, meetings and event management is the first travel management company to partner with Seatfrog, a leading travel technology company transforming the future of rail upgrades. Booking more than 1.5 million rail tickets a year, Capita Travel and Events’ scale and expertise in UK rail spend makes this a strategic and innovative partnership.

This new offering benefits customers booked on a standard advance fare, looking for greater flexibility and productivity gains whilst travelling. Enabling further conversations about intelligent policy controls and the empowerment of travellers.

Seatfrog works by creating a live, dynamic bidding system for First Class seats that would otherwise remain empty. Using unique technology, the mobile app integrates customer bookings with complex internal systems, allowing travellers to bid on empty seats in First Class using live, highly accurate travel information.

As a result of the partnership, Capita Travel and Events customers are able to upgrade to First Class on selected LNER routes via the Seatfrog app. This will enable more Capita Travel and Events customers to have access to improved on-the-go working environments, enhanced wellbeing and productivity benefits whilst travelling on the LNER network.

Earlier this year Capita Travel and Events announced the release of new proposition – ‘Rail Fare Checker’ and its focus on delay and repay compensation capabilities. This new partnership with Seatfrog is a further move in Capita Travel and Events’ vision to help customers realise the value of smarter working with cost reduction, cost avoidance, wellbeing and productivity at the heart of travel.

Seatfrog is available to download now from the App Store for both iOS and Android devices. Travellers simply add their trip to view any available upgrades before placing a bid. What’s more, passengers never pay more than the value of the upgrade and there are no hidden fees.
